Beyond the Cloud: Tapping Cloud-based Communities to Connect Government, Citizens, and the World

Cloud computing is putting the technology sector – and with it, our networked economy – through tremendous change and disruption. Playing a key role in shaping this change is former U. S. CIO Vivek Kundra. Mr. Kundra will share with us the transformation he drove in the Federal government by shifting to the cloud, an initiative which will make 40 percent of government data centers obsolete by 2015. He will also discuss the opportunities and challenges presented by the confluence of cloud computing with open data. Specifically, by tapping cloud-based communities, public agencies and private entrepreneurs can work together to encourage innovation in broader sectors of the economy; at the same time, careful attention must be paid to ensuring the security of government and corporate operations.

Don't Touch That Invoice! Driving Strategic Value through Automation and Collaboration

Improving the quality of human life is the mission of not only GlaxoSmithKline – official Laboratory Services Provider of the 2012 Summer Olympics – but also that of their global shared services center. In this keynote presentation, GSK leaders will discuss the beneficial and strategic impact a paperless invoice strategy has had not only on their internal operations, but also on process cost and efficiency for their suppliers. They will describe how e-invoicing has made the business processes involved in supplier and purchase order/price compliance more cost-effective and efficient. And they will show you how internal alignment between procurement and payables – as well as improved collaboration with suppliers – has helped GSK’s shared financial services center achieve significant cost savings with positive working capital impact.
